FIELD: point and varnish industry, more particularly preparation of varnishes, drying oils and paints. SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing melted lead- manganese siccative by dehydration of vegetable oil on heating and melting it and subsequently heating it together with lead oxide and manganese dioxide. Prior to dehydration, vegetable oil is further hydrolyzed with water at 90-100 C and pH of 5.6 and melted with lead oxide and manganese dioxide at 190-200 C. EFFECT: wider technological possibility of the method and improved quality of the siccative. 1 tbl
