FIELD: automation and computer engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has at least one central processor, non-volatile memory, cleared non-volatile memory, and input-output circuits. Data for programming are transmitted to control unit from external electronic device, for example, personal computer. Said control unit sends received data to cleared non- volatile memory. Corresponding method involves splitting cleared non-volatile memory into two separate regions for clearing and writing. Before writing data into cleared non-volatile memory, software unit is stored in one of separately cleared and written regions. Data are written into either of two regions only when software unit is stored to another separately cleared and written region. EFFECT: possibility of additional alterations into software unit, which is stored in cleared non-volatile inexpensive memory. 11 cl, 3 dwg
