FIELD: production of solid wastes. SUBSTANCE: method for solidifying wastes containing radioactive iodine-129 of long half-life period that provides for eliminating evaporation of radioactive iodine into atmosphere during solidification process and for producing solid wastes distinguished by effective localization of radioactive iodine and long-time stability involves mixing granular radioactive-iodine containing wastes, such as granular iodine adsorbent incorporating great amount of radioactive iodine adsorbed and accumulated in it, with metal powder such as copper powder resistant to corrosion in solid waste disposal environment, filling metal capsule with mixture obtained, and isostatic hot pressing the filled capsule at temperature sufficient for sintering mentioned metal powder and at pressure sufficient for producing solid metal base from sintered metal powder. EFFECT: improved localization of radioactive iodine and extended stability of solid wastes. 8 cl, 3 dwg
