FIELD: electromechanical engineering; large single-phase commutator motors for electrified railways. SUBSTANCE: motor field winding is essentially sectionalized armature winding; each section is connected to pair of contacts with brushes shorted out by reactance unit made for varying inductance thereby making it possible to build up torque at motionless brushes and to raise it to maximum; this enables remote control of repulsion motor starting and running dispensing with brush rocker shifting gear. Mode of operation of motor can be easily changed. Commutator circuits incorporate inductive reactance units. EFFECT: improved commutation conditions and extended service life of motor. 1 dwg
