FIELD: in-situ recovery of contaminated heterogeneous soil. SUBSTANCE: method involves introduction of decontaminating agents in at least one liquid-penetrable area of polluted heterogeneous soil. Direct current is passed through low-penetrability soil within polluted- soil area between first and second opposite-charge electrodes. First electrode is placed at first end of polluted-soil area and second one, at its opposite end. This induces electroosmotic current from first to second electrode and/or electromigration motion of polluted ionic substances towards opposite-charge electrode. Hydraulic gradient is applied across polluted-soil area to initiate hydraulic current from high-pressure end of polluted- soil area to low-pressure end of this area.
