MOUTH DILATOR Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: medical engineering, particularly, surgical instruments. SUBSTANCE: mouth dilator has two blades coupled to each other by means of lantern gear. One blade is provided with lock shaped as upper jaw, while the other blade has lock in the form of lower jaw with S-like tongue holder. Both blades are provided with hinges which make it possible to change position of jaw locks and tongue holder in horizontal plane. Blade connectors in the form of drop-like holes make jaw locks, containing projections of corresponding form removable, changeable and allow their rotation through 360 deg about axis. Locks of jaws contain removable silicone safety catches, and tongue holder edges internal surface of teeth with its bends and forms angle of 150-180 deg by passing tongue root. As a result, jaws and tongue are fixed reliably, and traumatizing of jaws, gums, teeth and tongue is reduced. Mouth dilator extends operative field survey and access to object of operation. It may be used for different age groups of patients and for patients suffering from different pathological changes in upper and lower jaws. EFFECT: enlarged functional capabilities. 4 dwg
