FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: method consists in forming hydrodynamic force whose moment relative to axle (shaft) of mast step ensures partially or fully stability of mast in working position in list. Device used for realization of the proposed method has step with mast secured on it; mast is provided with sail-aerofoil of variable geometry. Step is provided with axle ( shaft) rotating in bearings. Mast of sailing vessel has additional underwater portion with additional variable- geometry centerboard-hydrofoil. Axle (shaft) of step is rigidly secured to mast of sailing vessel between aerofoils and hydrofoils and ensures turn at low resistance moments and inclination of mast to port or starboard. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of sailing vessel of new types of centerboards and sail boards at increased speed characteristics. 3 cl, 23 dwg
