FIELD: medical engineering, namely, medical diagnostic equipment. SUBSTANCE: method includes determination of air consumption in breathing and breathing frequency depending on air pressure at oxygen mask inlet and at outlet of exhalation valve of oxygen mask. It also includes measurement of duration of pressure variation in inhalation and exhalation and measurement of breathing frequency by determination of number of signals corresponding to inhalations and exhalations for definite interval of time. Device intended for method realization has electric strain-gauge transducer, and its sensitive element senses pressure of air flow at oxygen mask inlet, and output is connected to the first input of solution and recording device. It also contains electric strain-gauge transducer and its sensitive element senses pressure of air flow at outlet of oxygen mask exhalation valve, and output is connected to the second input of solution and recording device and its output serves as a device output. Due to introduction of sensitive elements into air flow, device enables determination of air consumption in breathing, breathing frequency and air consumption in breathing at excess pressure without increasing inhalation resistance and without making breathing difficult.
