METHOD AND DEVICE FOR AUTOMATIC DETERMINATION OF LOAD WEIGHT BY HOISTING MECHANISM WITH ELECTRIC DRIVE Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes measurement of height of brakeless hoisting of load and determination of amount of electric power consumed by this hoisting. Gross weight of load hoisted to this height is calculated by using of law of conservation of energy. Net weight of hoisted useful load is determined with due regard for paid-out hoisting rope, weight of load gripping assembly and hoisting device efficiency, as function of electric energy consumed by electric drive during brakeless hoisting motion. During return unladen motion for taking the load weighing process accuracy is controlled automatically by depression of "Taring" button. Metrological adjustment is carried out algorithmically with the aid of adjustment controller by multiple hoisting of standard loads of different weight. The device intended for method realization has pickup of electric power consumed by electric motor of hoisting mechanism, pickup of paid-out hoisting rope length, computer, adjustment controller, indicator, auxiliary controls, "Taring and "Zeroing" buttons, and "Balance On" toggle switch.
