FIELD: laser engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves growth of potassium chloride crystals from melt while adding thallium salt. Crystals are grown using Stockbarger method in evacuated quartz crystal ampoules of salt KCl added with thallium nitrate TlNO3. Thallium content in crystals is checked by A-band of absorption in ultraviolet region of spectrum. Tlo(I) centers of coloring are organized by gamma irradiation of crystals at dose rate of (1-5)•107 R at temperature of dry ice. Thallium salt is introduced in the form of thallium nitrate TlNO3 in amount of 0.5-2 mass percent. EFFECT: improved concentration of effective coloring centers in crystals. 1 dwg, 1 tbl, 1 ex
