SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of feeding wire until stopper, winding helical portion of spring onto mandrel, transferring wound spring to shaping zone, simultaneously forming two end portions of spring, cutting its right end and discharging ready product. Apparatus for performing the method includes mounted onto tool plate mechanisms for winding spring and discharging ready product, mechanisms for transferring, shaping and cutting. Shaping mechanism is in the form of two dies. Lower die has pilot members in the form of grooves. Transfer mechanism is in the form of stripping wedge and holder with cutter. Unit for controlling said mechanisms includes cams. EFFECT: enlarged manufacturing possibilities due to making springs with shaped ends placed near spring coils in the same plane normal relative to spring axis. 2 cl, 8 dwg
