FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, more particularly processing of polymetallic zinc-containing concentrates. SUBSTANCE: polymetallic zinc-containing concentrates are processed by melting with zinc converted into slag. Slag is then subjected to depleting treatment to distill off zinc vapors and circulate slag between depleting and melting zones. Weight ratio of circulating slag to the slag formed during melting operation is maintained at less than 3.0. Processing of zinc-containing concentrates becomes more efficient by cutting specific operational expenses due to reduced consumption of fuel and increased process efficiency.
