FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; processing zinc-containing materials.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes preheating of starting material mixed with fluxing additives and treatment of preheated charge by plasma arc heat in DC furnace to temperature not below 1530°C at delivery of carbon-containing reductant in the amount of 0.18-0.2 of mass of zinc contained in starting material.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process; obtaining metallic zinc at high degree of extraction.
