FIELD: meat poultry farming. SUBSTANCE: method involves primary appraisal of 10-12 weeks aged birds, including evaluation of leg and back musculature, proportional build and fatness; evaluating skin fold thickness in the region adjacent to cloaca, between pubic bones and rear end of carina. Specimens with skin fold thickness of 3-6 mm are considered fit for selection. Such selection procedure allows slaughter yield of 1st grade carcasses to be increased.
