FIELD: equipment for diagnosing working characteristics of machines on the basis of measurement and studying vibration data, in particular, mounting of vibrational converter which may be used as component of computer monitoring system. SUBSTANCE: method involves mounting vibratory converter on machine housing, with axis of its maximum sensitivity being oriented in radial and/or axial direction relative to bearing and with minimum rigidity of housing being taken into account. Method is characterized in that temporary three-coordinate vibrational converter is mounted in minimum rigidity zone of housing of existing machine to be diagnosed, and maximum values of vibrational forces of defective units are measured in mutually perpendicular axial and radial vertical and horizontal directions. On the basis of measured values, vectors of maximum vibrational forces are determined with following plotting of solid angle of action of maximum total vibrational forces vector at minimum distance from defective part. Temporary vibrational converter is then removed and constant-acting vibrational converter is positioned within solid angle. Method allows number of used vibrational converters to be reduced by taking into account axial vibration and vibration directed perpendicular to it in vertical or horizontal direction.
