FIELD: power supplies for electric tools and devices. SUBSTANCE: voltage regulator has resistor inserted in series with current-carrying circuit of gate electrode of triac through which load is connected to supply mains. Voltage picked off this resistor is supplied to input of regulation and stepless-starting signal shaper whose output signal is used to control triac turn-on delay time relative to moment when supply voltage crosses zero. Voltage is passed to input of regulation and stepless-starting signal shaper as soon as load is connected to regulator output; since this moment, its output voltage gradually rises, triac turn-on delay time gradually reduces, and voltage applied to load gradually increases.
