FIELD: metallurgy; methods and device for cooling shafts of metallurgical furnaces; water and evaporative cooling systems of shaft shells of blast furnaces or blast cupolas. SUBSTANCE: device has cast-iron plate with cooling coils which are fitted with coolant supply and discharge branch pipes; cooling coils are made from high-strength cast-iron globular graphite. Cast-iron plate and cooling coils are made from cast-iron with globular graphite containing the following components in addition to standard components, mass-%: carbon, 2.7 to 3.2; silicon, 1.0 to 2.0 and aluminum, 0.001 to 0.01. Cooling coils are made from cast-iron with globular graphite containing the following components in addition to iron, mass-%: carbon, 2.7 to 3.2; silicon, 1.0 to 2.0; nickel, 0.5 to 1.0; cerium, 0.1 to 0.7; niobium, 0.03 to 0.09; molybdenum, 0.01 to 0.08; calcium, 0.005 to 0.015 and aluminum, 0.001 to 0.01.
