FIELD: mining industry; breaking of rocks and other media by impact driving-in. SUBSTANCE: in proposed impact breaking device peculiarities of impact cracking of materials are taken into account to provide effective breaking at same power consumption. This is obtained by dividing impact energy into two components with time internal in between equal to time of driving in wedge-type striker before formation of main crack under it. Weight of striker and fixing nut and spring is greater somewhat that weight required for driving-in wedge- shaped working part before formation of main crack under it. Free distance between all coils of spring is equal to pre-impact speed of striker multiplied by time of formation of main crack under wedge-type working part, and stiffness of spring is sufficient only for holding weight of striker.
