FIELD: concentration of weakly magnetic finely ground materials, manganese ores in particular. SUBSTANCE: method includes delivery of low-magnetic pulp to settling surface from ferromagnetic bodies which are located smoothly and in parallel; these bodies are made in form of prisms of section decreasing in way of pulp which are located in working field of magnetic system of separator; method includes also deposition of magnetic fractions on ferromagnetic bodies, removal of non-magnetic fraction of pulp from working chamber and taking magnetic fraction off ferromagnetic bodies. Magnetic particles (in zone of entrapping them by ferromagnetic bodies) are continuously moved over settling surfaces of ferromagnetic bodies by magnetic sliding under action of hydrodynamic forces of pulp. Field of magnetic system between ferromagnetic bodies of separator has varying intensity decreasing in way of motion of pulp. Edges and faces of prisms form pairs of pole in way of magnetic flux; cross sections of prisms decrease in way of motion of pulp of pulp. End sections of prisms are located outside zone of interpole space of magnetic system. EFFECT: continuity of separation process; reduced power requirements. 5 cl, 5 dwg
