FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: aromatic hydrocarbons are evaluated from coke-oven gas by treating coke-oven gas with hydrocarbon absorber followed by distillation with live steam and recycling of hydrocarbon absorber. Hydrocarbon absorber is petroleum fraction evaporating within 250-360 C taken off from vacuum column top during distillation of low-paraffin petroleum having viscosity of 3.5-6.4 sq.mm/s at 50 C and flash temperature of at least 130 C. EFFECT: reduced slime formation and increased absorbing power of aromatic hydrocarbons. 3 tbl
