FIELD: electrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method relates to electrolytic methods of producing salts of chlorine oxygen-containing acids, particularly, sodium hypochloride or chlorate. Electrolysis of aqueous solution of alkali metal chloride is conducted with periodic changing of current polarity on electrodes and use in electrolysis pair at least one titanium electrode with active coating. The latter includes ruthenium dioxide. Provision is made of presence in electrolysis of the product in electrolyte solution in amount enough for inhibition of destruction of titanium electrode active coating during period of cathode polarization of titanium electrode with active coating. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 2 ex
