FIELD: detecting and measuring ionizing (X-, gamma-, alpha-, and electron) radiation. SUBSTANCE: scintillation light guide has in its composition solid solutions based on silver halides, mas.%: AgCl, 17.980-27.000; AgBr, 82.000-72.499; AgJ, 0.010-0.500; they are doped with 0.01-0.001 mas.% of either thallium, or chromium, or europium, or cerium. Light guides obtained may be up to 50 m long. They are nonhygroscopic, very plastic, nontoxic devices, their density is as high as 6.4 g/cu.cm and effective atomic number Zэфф = 42.7-42.8; their scintillation time is as short as 20 ns; their glow spectrum with its maximum at 400 nm is convenient for recording. The operating temperature range is between minus 60 and +200 C. EFFECT: improved characteristics of light guide. 5 cl, 5 ex
