FIELD: radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: method is realized by radio direction finder of one station. It consists in measurement of angles of azimuth and elevation of each received radio wave resolved into first, ordinary wave with right-hand circular polarization and second, special wave with left-hand circular polarization, in construction of two histograms by distance and angle of elevation per each of two waves by two prediction curves " angle of elevation/range " related to propagation of ordinary and special radio waves and in calculation of distance to transmitter by these two histograms. Invention is applicable to localization of radio transmitters situated at ranges exceeding 1000 km from radio direction finder which is achievable technical result of it. EFFECT: localization of radio transmitters located at long ranges from radio direction finder. 3 cl, 7 dwg
