FIELD: television microscopy, applicable in industry at automatic quality control, and especially in criminology for conducting of ballistic examinations of small arms bullets, as well as for creation and storage of data bank of bullet-indices for subsequent identification of weapon according to the traces on bullets. SUBSTANCE: before recording of each frame of the surface of the object under examination corresponding to one angular pitch, after preliminary focusing of the object, computer analysis of the image of the light line on the object is carried out, the boundaries of the object surface record fragments being away from the plane of the best focusing at distances multiple of the depth of focus of the projecting optical system are singled out, then the fragments are recorded in succession, each time moving the object in the optical axis by a value equal to the depth of focus, the turn of the object surface is corrected, analyzing the image of the light line inside each fragment, and record of the full frame is synthesized out of the fragments, and for synthesis of the full scanning the position of the frame boundary being common with the subsequent frame is determined, and the width of the adjacent fields of the current and subsequent frames is determined according to it. EFFECT: enhanced resolving power and minimized distortion of images caused by "clipping" between frames. 5 cl, 4 dwg
