DRUM GRANULATOR Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: chemical and allied branches of industry. SUBSTANCE: granulator may be used for production of mineral fertilizers. Drum granulator has rotating drum with blades positioned on its internal surface, return screw conveyer, tapered classificator, and loading chamber provided with branch pipes for introduction of recycle and heat carrier. Granulator also has solution spraying nozzle and unloading chamber fitted with branch pipes for removal of used-up heat carrier and for granulated product outlet. Rotating screw conveyer is positioned in lower part of classificator in layer of material. It is secured rigidly on rotating shaft mounted in supports of posts. Screw conveyer has variable diameter decreasing towards narrow face of classificator cone and variable pitch reducing in opposite direction. Granulator uses effect of separation of particles by sizes in rolling layer of charge. This makes it possible to direct mainly fine fraction to granulation zone continuously.
