FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves molding primary composite billet having external coating from stabilizing material and axial cylindrical block from NbTi alloy. The primary composite billet is extruded and deformed to produce hexahedral bar. The hexahedral bar is cut to produce measured length bars that are packed into envelopes from stabilizing material and subjected to extrusion for producing secondary composite billet, and deformed with intermediate heat treatments at 370 to 400 C to obtain the final size of the wire. Composite billet extrusion is carried out at a temperature not exceeding 400 C. EFFECT: increased critical current density in medium and high intensity magnetic fields. 2 cl, 3 dwg
