FIELD: low-temperature electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method for producing superconducting wires for use in magnetic systems of charged-particle accelerators, energy storages, tomographs, cryogenic turbogenerators, and cryogenic motors includes installation of niobium-titanium alloy billet in copper or copper base alloy shell, sealing, hot extrusion , and cold strain to obtain bar, cutting of the latter into desired-size lengths followed by assembly of measured lengths of bars in copper or copper base alloy shell to produce desired number of niobium- titanium fibers in last composite billet, conduction of cold strains, annealing, and final deformation; in the process, bars placed in last composite billet are subjected to cold pre-strain involving intermediate annealing processes at 385- 420 C for 10-100 h; then last assembly is subjected to cold strain up to total deformation required to take up all clearances and to ensure up to 10% deformation; then additional annealing is conducted under temperature-and- time varying conditions corresponding to intermediate annealing condition followed by cold strains with annealing until wire of desired cross-sectional area is obtained. EFFECT: improved critical current density and current- carrying capacity of wires obtained.
