METHOD FOR MAKING PARTS FROM ROD Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly manufacture from rod three-dimensional articles having loop-like mean portion, end portions directed towards mean portion and intermediate bent portions. SUBSTANCE: preliminary and final bending of blank is performed in die set. Preliminarily bent blank is fed to station for final bending at reverse stroke of movable plate of die set. At process of preliminary bending end portions are bent; mean and intermediate portions of blank are bent in the same direction as end portions. Intermediate portions are subjected to bending simultaneously with calibration until achieving inclination angles of intermediate portions relative to mean line less than in ready part. At final bending process mean and intermediate portions of blank are bent in plane inclined relative to plane of preliminary bending. Then additional bending of mean and end portions of blank is realized. Mean portion is subjected to additional bending on mandrel in order to narrow its loop and to increase inclination angles of intermediate portions relative to mean one up to value of above mentioned angles of part. At process of additional bending end portions are bent in order to change their spacing from intermediate ones. Before preliminary bending in die set, measured blank is cut from rod.
