FIELD: pulp-and-paper industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves changing the amount of pigment and/or filler normally used in the process for imparting predetermined optical properties to paper and/or cardboard, and substituting it with calcium oxalate. Method for reducing wear of gauze involves introducing calcium oxalate into paper or cardboard tape or into coloring layer used as coat instead of pigments normally used in the process. Fibrous roll material with coat of whiteness corresponding to ISO standards and opacity exceeding 90% contains calcium oxalate as filler and/or pigment.
