FIELD: petroleum processing catalysts. SUBSTANCE: regeneration of gasoline reforming catalyst includes hydrogen activation, burning out coke, oxidative chlorination, and reduction, one of those stages also including treatment of catalyst with sulfur-containing compounds until concentration of sulfate ion 0.15 to 3 wt % is attained before reduction stage. Additionally, after burning out coke or after oxidative chlorination, catalyst is treated with sulfur-containing in circulating hydrogen-containing gas medium at 400-200 C. EFFECT: increased activity and stability of catalyst due to conservation in catalyst required amount of sulfur in the form of sulfate ion. 2 dwg, 1 tbl, 4 ex
