FIELD: construction engineering, prefabrication of building components and arrangement of shielding structures for buildings. SUBSTANCE: heat-insulating block is comprehensive spatial structure incorporating three- dimensional concrete bearing member and thermal diaphragm built into the latter and made of effective heat-insulating slabs. Thermal diaphragm has slits arranged so that 68-70% of thermal diaphragm perimeter occur in plane of mating joints. Bearing element has rabbets in its body to receive heat-insulating inserts that function to eliminate heat loss in the course of erection of heat-insulating blocks. Heat-insulating block is turned through 180 deg. When used to cover spaces over openings of buildings; rated reinforcement is introduced to strengthen the structure. Heat-insulating block is molded with aid of split void-forming punch and diaphragm-type partitions used to shape the product and to lock thermal diaphragm on special-purpose fixture that has vibration exciter mounting split void-forming punches rigidly fixed in position, hinged sides, vibrating cantledge, changeable pan with openings to pass punches to bottom, form removal mechanism, and power drive. Heat-insulating block makes it possible to obtain unified heat-insulating items for building engineering, in particular for low-rise buildings and prefabricated constructions using single size heat-insulating blocks for comprehensive range of climatic conditions; proposed method ensures high precision assembly of components without slants on external surfaces. EFFECT: enlarged functional capabilities, improved quality, reduced cost of construction and building maintenance charges, reduced material input and labor consumption. 9 cl, 7 dwg
