FIELD: radiolocation. SUBSTANCE: method determining bearing on radiation source consists in generation and radiation of harmonic signal with frequency by source, in reception of acoustic signal by arrangement of eight hydrophones as minimum that form circular measurement base oriented in horizontal plane, in isolation of quadrature components of complex envelope of received acoustic signals and in measurement of phase of received acoustic signals. Signals received by hydrophones of base are phased in advance into N directions passing through center of base and through each hydrophone. Direction corresponding to maximum signal and hydrophone lying in this direction are found. Bearing on radiation source in local coordinate system coupled to circular base is determined by formula with account of angular coordinates ϕn of hydrophones, number of hydrophones, cumulative phase ψn on nth hydrophone relative to phase on first hydrophone for which hydrophone lying in direction of maximum signal is assumed. Device includes circular base of N receiving hydrophones, N-channel receiver, N-channel unit to isolate components of complex envelope of received signals, generator of reference signal of frequency , meter of phase of received signals, unit phasing received signal into N directions, unit selecting maximum value of signal and computing bearing.
