STRAIN OF BACTERIUM ENTEROBACTER GERGOVIAE GISK N 259 SHOWING COMPLEX OF PATHOGENICITY FACTORS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: microbiology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing thermolabile enterotoxin (LT-enterotoxin) and anatoxin from Enterobacter gergoviae in vaccine production. Strain Enterobacter gergoviae N 185 is isolated from feces of patient with foot mycosis and deposited in Collection of the State Science-Research Institute of standardization and control of medicinal biological preparation at registration N 259. Intracutaneous administration of 300 mln of microbe cells from 20 h broth culture causes skin necrosis in rabbit (diameter of necrosis is 3.0 cm). In experiment with rabbit small intestine loop administration of 500 mln of microbe cells from 20 h broth culture gives positive result (V/L = 1.3). Supernatant fraction from 20 h broth culture heated at 56 C for 45 min causes paw edema in mice in the dose up to 30 mg but without necrosis of rabbit skin. Cell culture (20 h) heated at 100 C does not cause accumulation of liquid in isolated rabbit small intestine loop (V/L = 0.3). Multiplication medium: Hottinger's broth (pH 7.2) containing 5% of rabbit erythrocytes at 37 C for 24 h. Genetic features: Hly+, Ent+, MS+, MR+. Strain is resistant to penicillin, tetracycline, cephalexine, oleandomycin, oxacillin, erythromycin, levomycetin and carbenicillin. Strain Enterobacter gergoviae N 259 shows enhanced toxin-producing capability. EFFECT: new strain of bacterium indicated above, resistance to antibiotics, increased production of toxin. 1 tbl, 2 ex
