FIELD: metallurgy, namely structures of water cooled crowns of melting furnaces. SUBSTANCE: water cooled crown includes peripheral portion having manifolds for feeding and discharging cooling agent joined with tubular brackets whose upper and lower branched parts are arranged radially and divided by separate sections. Each section is in the form of shaped spring whose vertical projection corresponds to bracket. Apexes of tubular brackets form concentric seat for mounting central refractory portion with holes for electrodes. Along perimeter of peripheral portion of crown there are nozzles for feeding cooling gas; said nozzles may be radially open relative to center of crown. Nozzles of central peripheral portion are joined with holes for electrodes and they are inclined by angle 30-47 degrees relative to horizontal plane and in plan view - they are tangential to circle passing through center of electrode hole. Minimum distance between electrode and the nearest to it metallic member of mounting seat is equal to 320-340 mm. Tubular brackets are bent with formation of horizontal plane near apexes. EFFECT: enhanced operational strength of refractory central portion of crown, lowered consumption of refractory materials and electrodes. 3 cl, 2 dwg
