FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves using current year growth rate values as plant diagnostics; under controlled conditions in greenhouse, at bud growing stage, determining nucleic acid RNA/DNA ratio in buds (genotype activity factor) at optimum soil moisture content of 75-80% of normal water content and upon short-term stopping of irrigation, when soil moisture content is reduced to 60-65% of normal water content; calculating drought resistance from formula: where Cd is drought resistance of fruit crop sorts; AGc is control genotype activity factor; AGt is test genotype activity factor; comparing obtained results; considering fruit crop as drought resistant, when Cd does not exceed 22-25%.
