METHOD FOR DESTRUCTION OF BALLISTIC MISSILE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

Abstract RU 2162589 C1

FIELD: anti-ballistic missile defense systems, applicable for protection against attack of ballistic missiles. SUBSTANCE: the interceptor missile is carried on a glider drawn by a flight vehicle hinge-joined to it for separation. The interceptor missile is launched in the design point at a coincidence of the trajectory with the trajectory of the ballistic missile. Positioned below their coincidence is the flight vehicle that emits directional electromagnetic radiation on the ballistic missile, and reflection from it is presented by the instruments of the interceptor missile, and its trajectory is corrected. A directional explosion is performed at the design distance in the form of a cone with the vertex on the nose of the interceptor missile, and the base facing the ballistic missile. The destructive components represent metal balls. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of destruction of ballistic missile due enhanced height of destruction zone, stable control of trajectory of interceptor missile.
