FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: device can be used to measure length of ferromagnetic articles in process of movement of article and device relative one another. Device has recording and reading magnetic heads to apply marks on article and to read them, two identical channels to memorize time intervals of odd and even marks. Channels are based on integrators. Apart from it case of reading head is linked to vibration motor. Availability of two channels memorizing time interval of marks makes it feasible for device to form signal of mark lost due to any cause automatically. Availability of vibration motor drive of reading head enables dependence of amplitude of output signal of head on value of relative speed of movement of device and article to be excluded.
