FIELD: methods and means for monitoring used for examination of behavior and properties of article specimens and materials in the process of impact tests of their structural characteristics and strength parameters. SUBSTANCE: method consists in the fact that pulses are recorded on a magnetic ring synchronously rotating with the pile driver rotor in equal time intervals up to the end of impact engagement of the pile driver with the article. After that the magnetic ring is uniformly rotated and the recorded pulses are read out, time intervals between each pair of successively read out pulses are obtained, converted to the speed values and represented graphically as a function of time and movement of the front of engagement of the pile driver with the article. The device realizing the method has a recording unit with a ring information carrier made in the form of a magnetic tape synchronously rotating with the rotor of the pile driver, control unit, switch, cathode-ray oscilloscope, two readout receptors, recording, erasing and reproduction receptor, pulse generator, frequency converter and a sawtooth generator. EFFECT: expanded functional and operative- technical capacities of existing similar methods and means. 2 cl, 2 dwg
