SUBSTANCE: proposed device depends for operation on combination of video indicator print and certifying signature to make it possible for reproducing device to handle either copyright protected or unprotected record media. Method implemented in protection system involves recording of video indicator print signal and witness signature on record media only when copyright protection is required. Reproducing device adequately reproduces program video signal in presence or in absence of witness signature; when copy of protected compact disk is reproduced, absence of witness signature will make reproducing device inhibit normal reproduction of disk.
