FIELD: jointing structural components; pre-installation treatment and repair of pipes and other oil-field pieces of equipment. SUBSTANCE: method for sealing taper-thread joints of pipes carrying triangular thread involves applying packing material of soft metal in the form of separate uniformly distributed local coatings. The latter are applied with diameter greater than thread pitch; in the process covering is also applied within local coating on tops and front edges of thread turns their layer thickness being not over specified size of gap; local coatings proper are uniformly applied within intermediate contact turns of one of members being joined. Covering is applied either on internal thread of joint or only on external thread of joint. Local coatings of covering are arranged on different generating lines of thread. Proposed method provides for antifriction joint between thread surfaces without reducing strength and sealing proprieties of joint. EFFECT: enhanced mechanical endurance of joint with respect to specified number of turn-on/turn-off operations. 4 cl
