FIELD: hydraulic machinery engineering; centrifugal pumps and other plants where operation of hydrostatic thrust bearing is required both in hydrostatic and sliding modes. SUBSTANCE: surface of revolution are formed in relief device on pivot and step bearing; these surfaces are in contact as surfaces of slotted end seal at complete approach of pivot to step bearing. These surfaces are separated from sealing surfaces by circular passage which is communicated with central area by means of respective passages. To ensure lubrication and cooling of additional surfaces, part of passages or all passages may be open relative to these surfaces. Cross sections of open passages are narrowing towards surface. At adequate cross sections of passages, additional bearing surfaces in relief chamber do not reduce cargo hoisting capacity of device during operation in hydrostatic mode but enhanced its reliability and durability in sliding mode. EFFECT: enhanced reliability and durability. 2 cl, 2 dwg
