PROTECTIVE SYSTEM OF PROTECTIVE SHELL OF WATER-COOLED REACTOR PLANT Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: designing and construction of nuclear power plants with water-cooled power reactors. SUBSTANCE: installed on the floor of the concrete pit is a water-cooled insurance vessel with stiffening ribs providing for a guaranteed clearance between the insurance vessel and the inner surfaces of the concrete pit. A basket coated with refractory members installed on the insurance vessel. A concrete bracket, whose inside diameter is less than the outside diameter of the reactor vessel, is made in the concrete pit between the insurance vessel and the reactor vessel bottom. The supporting ribs, positioned radially under the bottom of the reactor vessel, are brought out to the level of the concrete bracket. The device passages for supply of the heat-transfer agent are used for passive replenishment of the concrete pit with water providing for cooling of the external surface of the insurance vessel at a heating of its internal surface by corium delivered to the room of the concrete pit positioned under the reactor. Protection of the insurance vessel against superallowed mechanical loads on the side of the destructed reactor equipment and corium is ensured by the concrete bracket, stiffening ribs, refractory members and basket. Protection against heat shocks is provided by refractory members, basket and a heat-insulating layer. EFFECT: enhanced safety of nuclear power plant in case of destruction of the active zone and outflow of corium beyond the reactor vessel. 27 cl, 6 dwg
