FIELD: plastic metal working, namely manufacture of forgings such as cross pieces, T-pieces and so on. SUBSTANCE: method for making cross piece type forgings comprises steps of heating blank, placing it in detachable dies for single-pass deformation. Blank is placed in cavity of die set in such a way that at time moment of its contact with movable punch, parting plane of dies is coincided with plane separating blank by equal forging volumes relative to plane of die set parting. Radial members are formed by pressing out metal simultaneously off both dies. Blank is fed to container of lower die and it is placed on end lower punch supported by plate. Upper punch and upper plate rigidly joined with it are moved, upper die is acted upon by means of elastic member. At time moment of contact of blank and punch, dies are drawn together for forming cavity. EFFECT: enhanced quality of cross piece type forgings made by such method. 2 dwg, 1 ex
