FIELD: foundry; applicable in production of magnesium-containing alloying composition from magnesium slags containing metallic magnesium, magnesium oxide and chlorides, and in production of castings from spherulitic iron. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of special melt based on silicon and/or copper; maintenance of melt temperature in its combination with slag between melting temperature of chloride salts and temperature of their volatizing; filling of space in which melt is combined with magnesium slag with protective gas; combination of melt with magnesium slag.
