FIELD: radio broadcasting. SUBSTANCE: method involves analysis of waveform of signal current spectra envelopes in left- and right-hand channels, encoding of difference between them, and generation of narrow-band control signal for modulating carrier of transmitted signal. Main audio signal in the form of sum of those in right- and left-hand channels is transmitted on the air as single band monophonic signal with partially suppressed carrier (for example, at 12 dB). During transmission signal of right- and left-hand channels is conveyed upon detection to filters whose adjustable frequency response is controlled by means of signals formed in analyzing envelopes of current frequency spectra on transmitting side and separated across signal detector in transmission. EFFECT: provision for transmitting stereo signals at low, intermediate, and high frequencies. 2 dwg
