FIELD: methods of technological analysis of water stability; circulating water supply systems for petrochemical refining industry and other industries; hot water supply and heating systems. SUBSTANCE: method includes drawing the samples of water to be analyzed and determining total hardness, after which water is boiled and again total hardness is determined; samples of boiling water are taken 5 times in succession, every 2 to 3 minutes during 10-minute boiling; magnitudes of depth of destruction of hardness are determined by difference in hardness magnitudes for starting and boiling water; then, ratio of magnitude of increment of depth of hardness destruction to duration of respective interval of boiling times is determined as index of water stability. EFFECT: enhanced sensitivity and reliability; facilitated procedure of analysis. 3 tbl, 6 ex
