FIELD: power engineering; stationary or transport power plants. SUBSTANCE: power plant has piston internal combustion engine, and piston steam machine mechanically combined in power unit, and recovery part converting heat losses of internal combustion engine into steam for piston steam machine. Power unit has at least two working cylinders, one of which is working cylinder of internal combustion engine, and the other, is working cylinder of piston steam machine. Cylinders are arranged coaxially in tandem, with partition placed in between. Each cylinder accommodates one piston. Pistons of cylinders are connected by common piston rod passing through partition and summing up mechanical power of both working cylinders. Working cylinder of piston steam machine differs in displacement from working cylinder of internal combustion engine. EFFECT: improved reliability and performance and ecological characteristics of power plant owing to increased degree of recovery of heat losses of internal combustion engine. 2 cl, 3 dwg
