FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has through ingot molds and tray with depressions in its working surface. Depressions are contoured in accordance with inner contours of ingot molds. Depressions are beveled in diagonal lines and provided with horizontal square portion in their central part. Sides of portion are turned through 45 deg relative to sides of contour. Depth of depression is 0.035-0.065 of ingot mold height. Beveled parts are joined one with the other along concave cylindrical surfaces. Square portion has rounded angles, with radii of rounded angles making 0.3-0.4 of its side. Such shape of depressions allows binding in bottom part of ingot to be eliminated and ingot bottom scrap to be reduced. Tray lower side is chamfered at an angle of 45-70 deg. Height of chamfers is 0.3-0.6 of tray thickness. EFFECT: reduced thermal stresses in the process of usage of trays, provision for eliminating cracks and minimum usage of trays. 3 dwg, 1 tbl, 1 ex
