FIELD: building materials industry, more particularly preparation of protective coating over metal surfaces of building structures using manual and mechanized methods. SUBSTANCE: described is mix for preparing coating which comprises serpentine, asbestos chrysotyl, phosphate and binder. Mix further comprises alumina or aluminium hydroxide and graphite, and binder is chlorosulfonated polyethylene dissolved in solvent, ratios of components being as follows, wt %: serpentine asbestos chrysolyl, 5-20; phosphate, 5-20; alumina or aluminium hydroxide, 5-20; graphite 5-40, chlorosulfonated polyethylene, 8-15; and solvent 30-60. As compared with prior art, said mix makes it possible, as coating thickness decreases, to attain significant fireproof efficiency. In this case, thickness decreases by 2.0-2.2 times. Coating has elastic properties. Because of these properties no swelling or shrinkage Is formed. Durability of coating is increased by 3 to 5 years, and adhesion, by 20-30%. Swelling of coating does not deleiorate, that is numerical ratios of swollen layer of coating to original thickness of the claimed disclosure and the prior art are approximately identical. Coating has corrosion resistance. EFFECT: improved properties of the mix. 4 tbl
