FIELD: chemical treatment of rare-earth elements; chemicals plants. SUBSTANCE: method involves thermal sublimation of non-radioactive components by spraying and/or mixing up the melt at 480-550C, introduction of sodium carbonate in molten radioactive waste, dissolution of wastes, and chemical deposition of radioactive components on barium sulfate sediment. Such procedure reduces volume of non-radioactive ballast in wastes. Among other things, proposed method will make it possible to recover aluminum and iron chlorides.
